Get dirty at Dirty Hawk Mudder
Are you ready to get your hands dirty — and your feet, your legs, your arms and possibly even your face — all for a good cause?
If you are, then it's time to register for the inaugural Dirty Hawk Mudder 2013, a raucous 5k or 7.5-mile endurance race over, around, and through an obstacle course. It's a variation on the Tough Mudder concept, developed in 2010 that has become very popular around the world.
So, how does a Mudder work? Entrants will set off in 50-person groups every 20 minutes beginning at 8:00 a.m., with the last starting time at 5:00 p.m. The event will be held at Lakeview OHV Park, at the corner of 140 Street NE and Ely Road NE in Solon. Among the obstacles you might be expected to navigate are a flooded tire field, hay bale mountain, truck push, slip-and-slide, rope bridge, mud hill, balance beam, creek run, and — of course — a field of wrestlers. You can't have an Iowa mudder without that!
Proceeds from the Dirty Hawk Mudder will go to the Hawkeye Wrestling Club. Registration is $50 for the 5K race and $75 for the 7.5-mile race. Entrants receive an event T-shirt, a beverage, and a special gift.
