Visit Practice

The HWC has a busy schedule coming up. To add to the excitement, the collegiate team started official practices.

Speaking of practices– did you know that fans are welcome and encouraged to attend practice? Most practices are held at 3:30pm weekdays. On football home game days, you can find practice times on social media.

Directions to the Practice Room:
Enter Carver Hawkeye Arena thru the North doors… Behind the Dan Gable Statue.
Take the Elevator or stairs down to the 2nd floor.
Go past the practice gym and follow the hallway to the Dan Gable Wrestling Room/Complex.

What to expect? That is not an easy question to answer, as every practice is different. A typical day has Coach Brands addressing the team at the beginning of practice.

I admit, sometimes this is the highlight of my day.

As most of you are aware he is a motivating, impressive speaker. So it’s no surprise that athletes and fans hang on every word.

Then there is a warm up followed by a practice that last typically until about 5pm. It’s really a great experience:

  • To see the work that they put in…
  • To see the interaction with staff… the HWC veterans and the younger guys.

Not many sports allow people like us to watch preparation for the season or for a tournament. Take advantage of it if you have the time. You won’t regret it.

Did I mention the HWC is going to be busy? Here is a glimpse at the upcoming competition schedule.

Competing at Beat The Streets Los Angeles

Los Angeles, CA: Beat the Streets Los Angeles (BTSLA) announces that it will host an International Competition between the U.S. and Japan Women’s Senior Freestyle Wrestling Teams. The friendly match will be held October 29 and will be the centerpiece of the organization’s 4th Annual Benefit Weekend.
